HANOI (AFP) — Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Monday for a week-long trip to Britain, Ireland and Germany, aiming to deepen economic relations with the EU countries, the foreign ministry said.
He was set to meet with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.
Dung's Britain visit will mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the state-run Vietnam News Agency reported.
Vietnam's trade with Germany reached 3.2 billion dollars last year, with 1.7 billion dollars with Britain and 95 million dollars with Ireland, the communist government said
