30% of poor students to receive loans

Around 30% of students will receive loans each year, under a recent decision by the Prime Minister on loans for poor students.
Under the decision dated March 25, the Government will mobilise between VND 30 trillion and 35 trillion to set up a fund to loan poor students for each cycle of five years.

The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Finance to allocate funds to the Bank of Social Policy for the purpose.

The bank, in turn, will be responsible for collecting loans back after five years.

In addition, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, the People’s Committees of provinces and cities, and socio-political mass organisations have been assigned to implement the decision.
