President confident in prospect for Vietnam-Cambodia ties — Talk Vietnam



Vietnam and Cambodia have plenty of rooms to further their ties, President Truong Tan Sang told Rasmei Kampuchea, the largest daily in Khmer language in Cambodia ahead of his visit to the country on December 23-24.

The front page of the daily published on December 21 covered an interview with the President by its Editor-In-Chief Pen Samitthy.

The Vietnamese President said his visit aims to further deepen the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, meeting aspirations of the two peoples.

In the coming time, he expressed wish for facilitating visits at all levels to raise mutual understanding.

Both countries should strengthen cooperation across tourism, telecommunications, banking, oil and gas, industry and agriculture, towards achieving a trade value of 5 billion USD in 2015 as agreed, he said.

He added that science-technology, education, health care and culture also need due attention.

Vietnam will provide more scholarships for Cambodian graduates and post-graduates studying in the country, he promised.

He suggested raising awareness of younger generations about the tradition of bilateral ties and working on land border demarcation for a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

On regional and international arena, the two countries should offer mutual support within the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam development triangle, the Ayeywady – Chao Praya – Mekong economic cooperation strategy, the Greater Mekong Sub-region, ASEAN, and the United Nations, he said.

He noted that history recorded all difficulties that had been jointly surmounted by the two countries and sacrifices they had made for each other for their national independence and freedom, saying these are invaluable pride that need to be handed down to next generations.

The President said the political and diplomatic ties between the two countries have been deepened basing on the mutual trust and understanding.

Economic, trade and investment cooperation was given top priority in the bilateral connection while that in security and defence received a lot of attention.

Affiliation in education, training, healthcare and culture has been unceasingly boosted, the President told the paper.

He noted that the two countries’ cooperation within multilateral mechanisms has been strengthened over the past times.

In the end of the interview, the State leader expressed his full belief that the bilateral friendship and coordination across the board will go forward with great strides.-VNA

Israeli President Shimon Peres left Hanoi on November 26, concluding his official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of State President Truong Tan Sang.
During his stay in Vietnam , President Shimon Peres held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The two countries’ leaders expressed their pleasure at the development of the multifaceted cooperation over the past time. They affirmed their resolve to boost and further develop their relations in the coming time, especially in science, technology, agriculture, trade, investment and tourism.
The two sides held that cooperation between Vietnam and Israel is yet to match their potential.
The leaders exchanged their views on regional and international issues and expressed their wish to enhance the exchange of information, actively contributing to joint efforts for peace, stability, cooperation and development.
Vietnam attaches importance to developing cooperation and friendship with Western Asian countries, including Israel , the Vietnamese leaders said, affirming Vietnam ’s support for the acceleration of dialogues and peaceful settlement of disputes, including disputes happening between Israel and Palestine , on the basis of international laws to ensure the legitimate interests of concerned parties.
On the occasion, the two sides inked a cooperation agreement on sea transport and a document on financial cooperation. They agreed to soon establish the joint intergovernmental committee.
President Shimon Peres invited President Sang to pay a visit to Israel . President Sang accepted the invitation with pleasure and the visit will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
The Israeli President laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh. He also attended the Vietnam-Israel business forum and visited Ha Long Bay.

‘We”ll be ASEAN bridge” VN tells Kazakh leader

Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang said yesterday he would help Kazakhstan increase ties with ASEAN countries, adding that Viet Nam was ready to act as a bridge.
President Sang made the statement during talks with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev here yesterday.
Sang described the Kazakh leader’s first official state visit to Viet Nam as an important step in developing friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
He said Viet Nam attached importance to consolidating and developing relations with traditional friends, including Kazakhstan.
President Nazarbayev spoke highly of Viet Nam’s achievements in its renewal process, saying that they helped improve the country’s world position.
The two presidents agreed that Viet Nam and Kazakhstan had great opportunities to intensify co-operation in politics, trade and investment.
They expressed hope of making mutual investments in infrastructure, mining, garment and footwear production, and setting up joint ventures for processing Vietnamese rubber, vegetables and seafood, and packaging Vietnamese tea and coffee in Kazakhstan.
They said that with their potential in energy development, the two countries would intensify co-operation in oil and gas exploration.
The two leaders reached consensus on regional and international issues of common concern, affirming their intention to co-operate at international forums and organisations.
They agreed that in the candidacy for the UN Human Rights Council, Viet Nam would run for the 2013-2016 term, and Kazakhstan the 2012-2015 term.
President Sang thanked Kazakh leaders and authorities for their support of the Vietnamese community in their country.
The leaders also witnessed the signing of six documents, including an agreement on judicial assistance in civil matters, an agreement on double taxation avoidance, an agreement on tourism co-operation, a protocol to supplement the agreement on education co-operation signed by the two governments in 2009, an agreement on civil aviation co-operation and a co-operative agreement between the HCM City and Almaty city.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also met with President Nazarbayev.
Trong thanked Kazakhstanis for their great support of Viet Nam ’s national construction and defence.
The Kazakh President said that relations between the two countries’ legislative bodies played an important role in considering, assessing and speeding up the implementation of agreements.
NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung also met with President Nazarbayev on the same day.
