Indonesia 68th Independent Day-Vietnam

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Association held a ceremony in HCM City on August 20 to mark Indonesia’s 68th Independence Day.
Participants highlighted the constant growth of traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia over the past 60 years. As of last June, both sides have raised the relationship to a level of strategic partnership in the interests of each nation and for peace, stability, cooperation and development.
Two-way trade turnover between the two nations has increased considerably to reach US$4.6 billion last year, and is expected to hit US$5 billion by 2015 and US$10 billion by 2018.
Bilateral cooperation is also effective in other fields such as security, national defence, energy, food security, agriculture and fishery.
At the ceremony, Dalton Sembiring, acting Consul General of Indonesia to HCM City, expressed belief that bilateral relations will continue to grow and flourish in the new era, contributing to boosting socio-economic cooperation, cultural exchange and humanitarian work in the region, especially within ASEAN and the United Nations.
