“Hanoi nostalgia” through camera lens Vietnam news daily update

Contestants of a photo contest with the topic “Hanoi Nolstagia” have captured peaceful, but modern corners of Hanoi.

Organised by the Vietnam Photographers’ Association and VNPhoto network, the competition takes place from August to September 15, opened for amateur and professional photographers at home and abroad.

After over a month, the organizing board has received thousands of entries featuring Hanoi’s landscapes, people, etc. The judging panel will work in the last two weeks of September to find out the winners.

The organizing board has also launched the competition to write about stories related to these photos and prose about love for Hanoi.

The best 1000 photos will be auctioned at the exhibition “1000 photos for 1000 years of Hanoi” in early October to raise fund for outstanding students of the Hanoi Culture University.

Tips on Travel to Vietnam

It's always warm in Southeast Asia apart from high mountains, so leave the heavy clothing at home. Cotton and breathable fabrics are always better than synthetics -- although cotton does wrinkle a lot when traveling! December through April is roughly the dry season in that region, although it can still rain a little. December is a good time to go in terms of temperature -- cooler than in the humid summertime. Either way, wearing more clothing (shirt sleeves and long pants) is always more respectful towards the Asian culture, especially when visiting temples and rural areas.
