Lucky farmer strikes gold in Central Province | Look At Vietnam

A poor farmer in the central province of Nghe An recently found a piece of gold of 2.1kg while working in the fields.

The 2.1kg piece of gold.

The lucky man is Lo Van Oi, 26, in Yen Hoa commune, Tuong Duong district. Oi’s Hao village has been stirred up by his good luck which has made him a dong billionnaire.

“God loves me so he gave me that big piece of gold,” Oi said.

He said that after the recent flash flood, he went to the forest to do farm work. After 3km of road, he stopped at a stream to drink some water and saw a bigpiece of rock in the shape of mushroom in the stream bed. He picked up the “rock” to see and threw it back to the stream. But premonition told him to pick up the “rock” again. When he scratched on the “rock”, he knew that it was apiece of gold and headed home with it.

“When she saw the piece of goal, my wife was so happy. Me and my wife put the piece of gold on a plate and lit an oil lamp so we could watch it the whole night. We wished the morning to come soon so we could go to town and sell it,” Oi said.

The man sold the piece of gold in a nearby town for nearly 1 billion dong (US$58,000). He shared a slice of the cash with relatives, then bought a truck, built a new house on stilts and banked the rest.

The man who bought Oi’s piece of gold said that he has never seen such a big piece of gold in his life. He cut down it into small pieces to sell in Hanoi and earn over 200 million dong of profit.
