Life on the water | |
If water levels rise in Vietnam's Mekong Delta as a result of climate change, more and more people may have to adapt to life on water. But some of them have been living that way for years. The Can Tho floating market is one example. People buy from farmers and act as wholesalers to the small boats which sell the fresh produce to locals along the river. They are mostly rowed, with crossed oars, so the environmental cost of the journey from field to bowl is minimal.
