Vietnam sends nearly 46,000 workers abroad in first 8 months_

ANOI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam sent 45,634 workers abroad in the first eight months this year, representing over 50 percent of the year target, said a report of Vietnam's Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on Thursday.

During this period, China's Taiwan was the biggest foreign labor market for Vietnam receiving 13,202 Vietnamese workers. The Republic of Korea came second with 5.549, said the report.

Other big foreign labor markets for Vietnam included Japan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Malaysia, and Russia.

Under the government's master plan on vocational training for labors in rural areas by 2020, Vietnam will earmark over 578 million U.S. dollars within this year for building vocational training centers in the country's 62 poor localities, said Vietnam's Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The vocational training will provide a wide range of jobs and language skills to rural labors, especially young rural labors, said the labor ministry.

According to the ministry, there are about 500,000 Vietnamese workers working in over 40 countries and regions. They send home nearly two billion U.S. dollars each year.

Vietnam aims to send 90,000 local labors to work abroad this year, said the ministry.
