A pair of giant pomeloes, which are 16kg in total, are now on display at the Can Tho International Exhibition Centre in the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho.
The huge pomelos come from a woman named Pham Thi My Hanh, in Cho Lac, southern province of Ben Tre. This species of pomelo is called Huong Hong.
Hanh said this kind of pomelo yields fruit after 2.5 years, and has approximately 30-35 fruits per tree. Each fruit is an average of 5-9kg. The fruit has yellow skin, red segments and is sweet in taste.
Hanh currently has approximately 20 trees of this species. She sold a pair of pomelos for VND 500,000 ($29.5), but she could not meet the demand for it.
