Flights from Vietnam to Bangkok canceled

VietNamNet Bridge – As Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, is surrounded by demonstrators, many flights from Vietnam to Bangkok today, November 26, have been cancelled while many flights from Bangkok to Vietnam haven’t been able to take off.

At Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport, Nguyen Nam Son, acting Chief of the Northern Airport Service Authority, said that as of 2pm today four flights from Hanoi to Bangkok had been cancelled.

Of the four flights, one belonged to Vietnam Airlines, two to Thai airlines and one to Air France. Son said because of the tension at Suvarnabhumi Airport, seven flights from Noi Bai to Bangkok and eight from Bangkok to Noi Bai on November 26 would be cancelled in total, including both of Vietnam Airlines’.

Vietnam Airlines spokesman Trinh Ngoc Thanh said the airline would follow the situation in Bangkok and inform its passengers about the flight schedule of its two flights to Bangkok on November 27.

As the cancellation of flights is force majeure, airlines will not have to compensate passengers. However, the spokesman said if passengers would like to return their tickets, Vietnam Airlines was willing to repay 100% of the airfare.

To receive updated information about Vietnam Airlines’ flights to Bangkok, passengers can contact the firm’s ticket offices or call the following numbers: Hanoi (04) 38320 320, HCM City (08) 38320 320, Da Nang (0511) 3811111 or go to website http://www.vietnamairlines.com.vn/.
