Global Summit of Women ’08 to open next week

The three-day conference will open in Vietnam on June 5 with the topic: “Women and Asia – Driving the global economy”.

The conference will connect businesswomen, female experts and female government leaders from all over the world in a global women’s alliance to share the best experience, the most successful business strategies, and to deal with women’s problems in business in order to raise the role and position of women in business, political and social activities.

The conference will also be a bridge connecting female leaders to national governments so they can suggest solutions related to business and gender equality issues in the world economy.

The summit will also bring opportunities for businesswomen worldwide to seek partners and business opportunities and honour outstanding businesswomen.

Major contents for discussion at the conference will be: Vietnam – a strongly developing economy, Develop business in Asia, Dialogue with businesswomen, Youth forum and business, Corporate social responsibility, Energy and its impacts on the environment, Female CEOs Forum – Opportunities and challenges in Asia-Pacific, Women Trafficking Prevention, etc.

As the host of this summit, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and related Vietnamese agencies will preside over two important events: the greeting banquet and the Business with Vietnam Forum 2008 on June 5.

Each event will see the participation of around 1,000 delegates, including government officials, Vietnamese and foreign businesses, international delegates, diplomatic corps, and international organisations in Vietnam. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will speak at the opening ceremony.

Around 850 delegates have confirmed their participation in the summit: over 600 from 70 countries and 250 Vietnamese delegates. VIPs like the Mozambique Prime Minister, the first lady of Bukinafaso and around 30 ministers and deputy ministers will also be in attendance.
