US-based Gerber Scientific International Vietnam, a provider of equipment related to the textile industry, Tuesday inaugurated a US$1 million advanced technology center (ATC) in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 750-square-meter center located in Go Vap District will provide product demonstrations and trainings, and showcase the company’s systems – including automated spread systems, multiple-cutting systems and computer-aided design applications.
The center, the first of its kind in the Southeast Asia region, is designed to meet the needs of apparel and related industries in Vietnam and other neighboring countries.
It was constructed by Gerber Technology, one of the four business divisions under the Connecticut-based Gerber Scientific Inc., which serves as one of the world leading suppliers of automated CAD/ CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) solutions for apparel and textile industries.
Gerber Scientific International Vietnam branch was established in May last year, with its head office located in Hanoi.
A service location will open in the central city of Da Nang in the near future, according to James Arthurs, Gerber Scientific Inc.’s President in Asia Pacific.
About 200 domestic and foreign companies in Vietnam uses Gerber systems, including Vinatex, Viet Tien, Thanh Cong Garment, Triumph, Adidas, and Urban Sofa.
Last year Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports valued at $7.8 billion and are expected to reach $9.5 billion this year.
