Television Film 2007 Awards honours “Life Law”

Vietnam Television’s “Life Law” received all awards of the Vietnam Television Film Awards 2007 at the awards ceremony held this Sunday, April 6 in Hanoi.

This year the organising board received 11,430 votes from audience members, a sharp fall compared to last year (37,790 votes). This is the lowest number of votes and the lowest number of films nominated for the Vietnam Television Awards so far.

“The number of television films broadcast in 2007 was small and most of them were short series because TV channels gave most of their time to foreign films. As of July 2007, Vietnam Television (VTV) began airing long Vietnamese series during golden time,” Dong Ngoc Dan, Editor in Chief of Television Magazine, the chief organiser, explained.

Dan said Vietnamese audiences are familiar with South Korean and Chinese TV series so they don’t accept locally-made TV series, which are poor in every aspect compared to foreign films.

This year organisers presented three awards only: Favourite Television Film, Favourite Actor, and Promising Young Actor.

With 4,079 votes, “Life Law” by Directors Mai Hong Phong and Hong Nhung won the Favourite Television Film Award.

Actor Ha Van Trong, who plays Mr. Hoe in “Life Law”, won Favourite Actor, and Dieu Huong, who plays Kieu Linh in “Life Law”, took the Promising Young Actor Award.

The three films that received the highest numbers of votes were Life Law, Village Ghosts, and Apprentice Reporter. This result shows that the audiences’ taste didn’t change compared to 2006, as they still liked series about hot issues.
