Mozambique eyes close legislature ties with Vietnam

Mozambique National Assembly Chairman Eduardo Joaquim Mulembwe Saturday expressed his wish to learn from Vietnam’s experience in economic development and poverty eradication.
At a meeting with the Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Nong Duc Manh in Maputo, the host legislator said he believed the bilateral relationship between the two countries would be strengthened by the Vietnamese leader’s visit.
Manh said the national assemblies of the two nations had an important role to play in developing bilateral relations, particularly in creating a legal framework for stable long-term bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders agreed to intensify exchanges of experiences and information to make the bilateral cooperation more practical and effective.
Vietnam and Mozambique agreed to open ambassadorial-level diplomatic agencies in their respective capital cities and establish an inter-governmental committee to boost bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Both sides pledged to make greater efforts to expand the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership for mutual benefit and development of Vietnam and Mozambique as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and prosperity in Southeast Asia, Africa and the world at large.
The two sides agreed to organize regular high-level meetings; promote cooperation between ministries, sectors and localities; increase exchanges between civic organizations and share experiences in economic development in combination with social progress.
