Foreign Tourists to Cambodia up over 17 pct for Early 2008

Foreign tourists to Cambodia increased over 17 percent for the first two months of 2008 compared to the same period of 2007, Tourism Minister Thong Khon said on Friday.
About 400,000 foreign tourists visited here during the first two months of this year, Thong Khon said.
The natural beach resorts, ancient temples, natural views, culture, good infrastructure and the stability of country are the main factors attracting foreign tourists, he added.
Meanwhile, Ho Vandy, President of Cambodian Association of Travel Agencies (CATA), said that during the Khmer New Year on April 13-16, about 10,000 Cambodian people visited neighboring countries, increasing about 15 percent compared to the same occasion in 2007.
They have visited Thailand, Vietnam, China, Singapore, Laos, Malaysia, and South Korea, he said.
Last year, nearly one million Cambodian tourists visited foreign countries in total, he added.
In average, each Cambodian tourist spent at least 500 U.S. dollars in foreign countries, he said.
