Hundreds hospitalized for food poisoning in central Vietnam

Several hundred people have been admitted to Quang Nam Province’s Thang Binh District General Hospital in the past week for cases of food poisoning, a source from the hospital said Monday.
The patients suffered symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, with a few experiencing high temperatures.
Some 30 patients caught food poisoning after attending two wedding parties in Binh Nguyen and Binh Lanh communes.
All other cases stem from individuals eating a small shellfish which is in season at this time of year.
The district’s Preventive Health Center said that the primary cause of food poisoning originated from careless gastronomic habits, rather than indications of a cholera outbreak.
