Vietnamese-Australian gets 20 years for heroin trafficking
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court Monday sentenced a Vietnamese-Australian man to twenty years in prison for trafficking heroin.
In May last year, Nguyen Kant lost consciousness on a Vietnam Airlines flight from HCMC to Sydney.
An airline attendant examined him and found two lumps of what turned out to be heroin around Kant’s anus.
The plane returned for an emergency landing at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
Doctors at HCMC’s Cho Ray Hospital then removed another 75 lumps of balloon-wrapped heroine from Kant’s stomach.
Kant, 37, admitted that another Vietnamese expatriate had hired him to transfer 226 grams of heroin for US$20,000. leading singers and models.

Tips on Travel to Vietnam

It's always warm in Southeast Asia apart from high mountains, so leave the heavy clothing at home. Cotton and breathable fabrics are always better than synthetics -- although cotton does wrinkle a lot when traveling! December through April is roughly the dry season in that region, although it can still rain a little. December is a good time to go in terms of temperature -- cooler than in the humid summertime. Either way, wearing more clothing (shirt sleeves and long pants) is always more respectful towards the Asian culture, especially when visiting temples and rural areas.
