Hotline to help cut red tape

The government Wednesday launched a round-the-clock hotline to inform callers about administrative formalities in three languages in a measure to combat red tape.
The public can dial 19001715 to find out in Vietnamese, Thai, or H’Mong how to complete some 80 different types of paperwork relating to family registers, land and house ownership, and others.
They can also leave complaints and feedback at the number for the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The service, known as Vietnam Administrative Procedures Gateway, costs VND500 per minute.
It has been created by NGO ActionAid Vietnam and market research and consulting company Markcom with support from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
