"Canon presents Tet gifts to the poor
Canon Vietnam on January 29 presented garments valued at VND 300 million to the 'Golden Heart' Fund of Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper. The donation will be distributed to the poor across the country on the occasion of Tet (Lunar New Year).
Sachio Kageyama, General Director of Canon Vietnam, said that his company’s export turnover reached US $950 million in 2007 and it wants to increase its contribution to Vietnam’s disadvantaged people.
Canon Vietnam had given aid to flood victims in central provinces, granted wheelchairs to the disabled in Son La province. Especially, Canon Vietnam began the construction of four schools for children in remote areas in the northern mountainous provinces of Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang and central Thanh Hoa province, the CEO revealed.
The company has job training recruited disabled people for work at its factory in Que Vo, Bac Ninh province and plans to employ workers with disabilities for the Thang Long factory in 2008. (VNA)"
